Perspective is Important

Laguna Beach, California

I’ve written about perspectives and thoughts before and I will continue to do so because they can either propel us towards the change we desire or render us stagnant and deceivingly powerless. Perspective is important. It has the ability to alter our mood, decisions, and behaviors.  Our thoughts lead to action.  Despite your present situation, circumstance, problem, difficult place along your individual journey or whatever the category may be, I’d like to encourage you to be mindful not to allow it (them) to become your sole focal point when in essence, it is only a portion of your life’s picture.  It’s okay to feel what you feel, the challenge is not to allow it to overshadow the rest of your reality.

What are you magnifying to the extent it prevents you from appreciating the present moment, seizing an opportunity, growing or experiencing the presence of God?

Whether you’re grieving the loss of an irreplaceable loved one, not where you desire to be professionally, burdened by financial issues, facing emotional barriers, experiencing relationship struggles or spiritual battles (this is a pretty extensive list right?), I pray your eyes remain fully open.  Do not be deceived, you’re in control and have the power to choose.

The beautiful image above was captured by a person currently in the grief process (because IT IS a process!). ME.  Amazing view, isn’t it?  Yep, I thought so too!

Take care,

Dr. Gilmore
